Assabet Machine Corporation is a family-run company with a 30-year history at the same location in Hudson, Massachusetts. The company was started in 1976 by the Dougherty Family and named for the nearby Assabet River. John Dougherty ran the business until 1980, when his son Neal took over daily operations. Neal is the company’s owner and president today. Neal’s children, Meghan, Matthew and Caitlin are also involved in the family business. In order to successfully compete and survive in the contract manufacturing business for 30 years, Assabet has been able to adapt to ever-changing customer needs by maintaining its focus always on quality.
